Willand Church Hall
As part of the CREATE youth and children’s ministry vision we are wanting to equip, train and resource Christians in their ministry with children and young people and to support our links with schools.
Godly Play is an exciting new initiative that offers a valuable method for teaching the Christian stories and inviting people to reflect how they connect with their lives. Across the country it is being used in primary schools and many church groups as well as offering a new approach to preaching. It is great with a mix of abilities and ages, but most often finds its home with a primary age group. Selina Garner and Carol Booth (Halberton Methodist church) have had experience of this method of teaching and have both found it to be a valuable tool in teaching people about Christianity.
Katherine Lyddon (the diocesan children’s advisor) is coming to our area to run a training session on Saturday 5th February 10am -1pm in Willand Church Hall. So far 24 have booked in to learn more about this method of teaching and we will be creating a local resource centre where people can borrow the materials for their Godly Play sessions.
“It really is some of the most thought provoking training I have had and has influenced my teaching of the Christian faith enormously. It will also offer us a great space to get to know each other and find others involved in Christian education.”
