Pancake Winter Olympics!

17 Feb 2010.
Over 50 adults and children from St Mary's gathered for food, fun and fellowship last night.

The Shrove Tuesday Party included pancakes with LOTS of fillings and various Olympian Pancakes Games including an obstacle course, freestyle pancake flipping and the well known game 'blow paper pancakes across the village hall using a straw'.

Lots of fun was had by all, and as with other church events it was a great opportunity to have a chat and get to know each other a bit better.

Prayers for Shrove Tuesday

Dear God,
Isn’t your creation wonderful!
And your provision so prolific,
Far exceeding what we need.
Good things you shower on us,
with reckless generosity
That takes our breath away,
Spilling such a feast of tastes and textures, shapes and colour before us
Until our senses are sated and we can feast no more.
Our plate and cup are overflowing.
And, as if that were not enough, you give yourself to us
Our sustenance and nourishment – our bread of life.

Provider God,
Food for our souls as well as our bodies,
May we so consume you that,
as carriers of your love,
We may be the source of nourishment and energy
To those who can only dream of a feast.
