The Bishop of Plymouth, Patrons and Parish Representatives are delighted to announce that, subject to the completion of the statutory formalities, The Revd Simon Talbot, who is currently Team Vicar in North Sutton Team Ministry in Plymouth, has accepted the post of Rector of the Culm Valley Mission Community. (This makes him the next Vicar of Uffculme).

A date for Simon’s licensing will be announced in due course.

The family and I are looking forward to joining you in September very much. I’m sure that you are wondering who we are and what we’re like, so I thought you would appreciate me writing something to introduce ourselves!

I am currently a Team Vicar in Plymouth leading St Paul’s Efford and assisting with the ministry at Emmanuel in Mannamead. I am looking forward to moving back to the countryside as I grew up in Chillaton, a small village in West Devon. When I have the opportunity I enjoy cycling (I’m afraid I’m one of those lycra clad cyclists that you sometimes get stuck behind in the car!) and walking our dog, Poppy.

Rachael worked as a Physiotherapist before we had children, now she spends her time looking after the children, helping with children’s ministry at church and hopes to be able to play her saxophone again one day!

As a family we enjoy getting out and about and will be looking forward to finding new places to visit as we get to know this part of Devon more.

The children are looking forward to getting involved in the local groups and clubs. They are delighted that there is a tennis club in Willand, hope to get involved in Scouting and Becca is also hoping to be able to go riding more often.

We are excited to find out how God will be leading us as we work with the different church families in the Mission Community as we see how we can fulfil our Great Commission whilst joyfully obeying our Great Command.

Looking forward to meeting you in the near future! Please pray for us as we move and settle in.

Your brother in Christ
