Over 40 people from across the Culm Valley Mission Community spent the day in Exmouth to develop a shared vision for the future.
The day provided a chance to consider what is being done already across the various parishes, and to consider priorities for the future.
The group voted to support a proposal to develop a 'Centre for Training and Excellence' for trainees in children and youth work within the Mission Community, and there is also a Growth Plan for the Mission Community as a whole (attached below).Centre for Training and Excellence
As part of their strategy for becoming a Mission Community we unanimously agreed that we would like to become a ‘Centre for Training and Excellence’ for developing young leaders in children’s and youth ministry. We believe that this will enable us to grow both in numbers and maturity as a Mission Community. We also think that our Mission Community would be a good training placement for Christian’s seeking to develop their ministry to children, young people and their families.
With a shared vision in place the challenge is now to seek the financial resources and recruit the young trainees. Selina will be working hard to do this in the coming months. If you would like to help with the fundraising or know of anyone who might be able to offer accommodation please do get in touch. Meanwhile please pray for this exciting new vision for ministry.Selina
- We believe that these trainees can help us to grow our local churches and enable many more people in our communities to hear the invitation to follow Jesus
- We would like to imagine our Mission Community as a centre of good practice that inspires and encourages other churches with ideas and resources for their work amongst children and young people in rural communities.
- A ‘Centre for Training and Excellence’ in the Culm Valley Mission Community could encourage other churches in the Deanery to consider supporting trainees and we could offer them resources and networks to make this possible.
- We believe that by doing something really well and working together on a project that generates excitement and enthusiasm for sharing the Christian faith, that our local church communities will attract new people to share the vision and explore their own faith.
