Lee Abbey Weekend, 27-29 September 2013 – a personal view by Tony Kidd

The Lee Abbey website notes that ‘Our guests and friends often comment that Lee Abbey is a ‘thin place’ in the sense that God is felt to be very near’ Lee Abbey. I believe that many of us spending a couple of days there at the end of September could echo that sentiment. 55 adults and children from our Mission Community and friends, mainly from Uffculme, were able to take the time to be there, quite a large proportion of the active congregation, and an indication of how important we feel that it is to come together as a community, to grow together, and to seek God’s will for us as individuals, as families, as a congregation, and as a community.

The weekend offered us a space to share, listen, laugh, walk, zipwire, play, pray, cry, grow in faith, be connected learn how we can respect and serve others, discover new gifts, dress up in newspaper, drink tea, eat together and to learn about being church and following Jesus. For more information about the weekend do read Tony Kidd’s reflections (pdf document below) and enjoy the slideshow.
