Another exciting morning in the life of our local church - praying for God’s blessing on a new allotment!

It was a real privilege to be asked to attend the opening of the Kingwood Childcare allotment and to pray with the children for God to bless all the digging, planting, harvesting and sharing of the vegetables and flowers they plan to grow.

The local church was well represented as Colin Coombes in his role as head of the gardening society cut the ribbon and Mick Maycock represented the local allotment society.

We took a small cross and helped to create a special corner by the shed to take things to thank God for and we prayed together using the soil and some water.

Enjoy the photos and the allotment prayers that were shared and please pray for the children and their plans for their new allotment.

Allotment Prayers

Dear Jesus,
We pray that this will become holy ground for us all.
That it will be a place to be amazed and learn about your creation and your promise to bring new life. We pray good food will grow and we can enjoy the fruits and plants and share them with other people.

We thank you for bringing beautiful plants and food from the dirt and when we come to work the soil to dig and weed and work please help us remember that you want to grow good things in our lives too.

As we water the earth
we want to say thank you God
for the gift of water to cleanse, heal, refresh
and make our plants grow.

As we hang this cross in our special corner we pray that it might remind us Jesus loves us and is happy to listen to us when we want to talk to him and tell him what we are feeling. Help it remind us to listen to God speaking his love, wonder, hope and joy into our lives as we work and play.

May the God that provides the seed for sowing,
our hands for digging, our eyes to see the beauty
and our mouths for tasting;
bless this place and bless each person who walks upon this ground.
May they discover the gift of work, the gift of waiting, the gift of hope and the joy of sharing the harvest.

We pray these things in the name of God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit.
