On Monday we celebrated 21 years of Christian volunteering by Joan Nichols who has supported a wonderful team of volunteers who have helped run coffee mornings in Square Corner every Monday and Thursday.

Folk from the village and all the local churches gathered to enjoy wine and nibbles alongside the usual coffee and teas. We gave Joan some flowers and a delicious cake was shared to say a big thank you to Joan. The Venerable Christopher Futcher (our new Archdeacon) joined in the celebrations and Spence and Selina said a few words of thanksgiving and prayed. Joan has revealed to us something of God's generous hospitality through her love and faithful service and the way she is always willing to chat and to listen to people and to make them feel welcome. It was important to celebrate this together and she will we hope inspire others through her example.

Joan has handed over her role to Myra Bertram who would love to hear from anyone who might like to join the team and serve the refreshments and who shares Joan's wonderful sense of humour. Myra is a regular member of the 8am congregation at St Mary's and can often be found in Square Corner! Her telephone number is 840425.
