CHAT believes that everybody:
... Is entitled to decent, secure and affordable housing - somewhere to call HOME.
... Has the right to live their life free from fear, violence and abuse.
CHAT's primary objective is to 'relieve the need of those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness or who are without decent, secure permanent accommodation'.
CHAT was founded by Christians who were concerned by the large number of people experiencing housing difficulty in Mid Devon. We believe that everybody is entitled to decent, secure and permanent housing – somewhere to call home.
We give Free Housing Advice in person or over the phone and can act on your behalf on housing issues.
We can offer landlords a Deposit Guarantee if you cannot afford a deposit.
With the free support from our Tenancy Support workers we can support you to keep your home and move on with your life.
We house and support young people in our Youth Housing Project houses in Tiverton, including a mother and baby house.
St Mary's Church supports CHAT financially and we have a food box in which we collect groceries to pass on to those in need. Caroline Wrigley runs this collection.
If you have linen or items you think someone moving into a new home might need do contact CHAT.
