25 Sep 2011.
I hope these few lines of news from Oxford find you well. We are all doing great. Today is the first day of term so there is a little apprehension and a lot excitement in the Down household.
Claire, Charlotte and I have settled into our new house (which is starting to feel like home) and most of the unpacking is now done. I've even dug a new flower bed in the front garden for the roses we bought with us from Devon! and we have made rhubarb jam with our last harvest from our allotment. As well as the unpacking we have met various people in the local community which has been great. We are blessed with some fantastic neighbours.
We have also just returned from a wonderful holiday in Edinburgh where we were able to get away from the jobs, stop and just be for a bit. A real blessing. I've attached a couple of photos from this. Charlotte started to crawl and she particularly enjoyed eating out in cafes and travelling on the bus giving her the opportunity to charm strangers.
Claire and Charlotte are returning to Devon for a visit the first weekend of October and will be in church at the 11am service on the 2nd October. They are really looking forward to seeing you guys. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it but they will pass on news I'm sure. I thought you might be interested to know that Charlotte's favourite toy since she would not let it go on our last Sunday with you guys is the little rattle form the church music box that you kindly let her keep. She particularly likes to shake it during singing in church and as well as doing this in the local church here took it to Scotland so they could also have the pleasure.
We would all really benefit from your prayers as we start college life and Claire and Charlotte start various baby groups in the community. We will continue to remember you in our prayers. It was great to read the latest CREATE news letter and we keep a beady eye on the web site to see what is going on. If there are any specific things you would like us to remember in our prayers do give us a shout.
With all our love
Andrew, Claire and Charlotte
